SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The women's basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina starts the EP qualifiers on Saturday in Skenderija with a match against Slovakia.
Our women's basketball coach Goran Lojo said that he is extremely satisfied with the work and commitment of all players during preparations and that he expects a good result against Slovakia.
- All players are ready except Lynette Kizer, who we cannot count on. We are ready for the match with Slovakia, which has changed its team considerably compared to the European Championship where they finished eighth. They are a bit of an unknown to us, but it is very important to start the qualifiers with a win – said Lojo.
Our team captain Milica Deura emphasized that she is satisfied with the work and atmosphere in the team. Deura said that we should not think about the Slovaks, but focus on our game. She invited the public to come in as large a number as possible and support our players.
Our best player Marica Gajić is convinced of a victory against the Slovaks and final qualification for a major competition.
- We are ready for the match, we promise to leave our hearts on the court and we hope that will be enough for a win. Women's basketball in BiH deserves this, and I believe we have the quality to qualify for the European Championship after 20 years – said Gajić.
Besides BiH and Slovakia, our qualifying group also includes Montenegro and Iceland.
The match will be played on Saturday at 6 PM in the Skenderija hall, and admission to the hall is free.
