In protest against the decision of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina banning the wearing of religious symbols by employees in judicial institutions, a dignified peaceful march was held in Zenica, reports a reporter from the Patria news agency.
Coordinator Amira Langić said the reason for the gathering was the shameful and discriminatory decision of the HJPC banning the wearing of the mahrama, i.e., the hijab, in judicial institutions.
- This currently applies to judicial institutions, but as we are used to so far, it will later be extended to other institutions, education, healthcare, etc. Zenica is known as a city of people who have their own opinions and views, and there is a great turnout for every activity in Zenica. It is shameful to order someone what they will or will not wear on their head. We don't even tell dogs where they can and cannot move - Langić points out.
More than 3,000 citizens of Zenica took part in the march.
