ZENICA AHEAD OF MOSTAR, A HELLISHLY HOT NIGHT AWAITS US, EVEN HIGHER TEMPERATURES TOMORROW!

(Patria) - Nedim Sladić, a young Bosnian meteorologist, announced extremely high temperatures for tomorrow. Far higher temperatures are expected tomorrow than today.

This will, among other things, significantly affect fires and their extinguishing.

-When we talk about fires, it should be emphasized that air currents are the biggest problem. Given that we are in a dry period, dry soil was the trigger for the spread of fires. The wind contributes to all of this.

Today, Zenica was once again the hottest city. At 4 PM, temperatures reached as high as 42 degrees Celsius. It is interesting, Sladić continues, that it was much warmer in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina compared to Herzegovina.

-Today was the hottest day since measurements began in 2024. In Zenica, the temperature record was broken again. Today in Zenica, a full 42 degrees Celsius, and Mostar was below Zenica. Extremely high temperatures for this area, the central Bosnian region. Tomorrow will be even warmer. We have thermodynamic conditions that will lead to new records tomorrow. Temperatures will be high during the first part of the night. In Sarajevo, the morning temperature will be around 22 degrees Celsius – says Sladić.

He points out that, regardless of the high temperatures, Bosnia and Herzegovina is in a much better situation compared to other countries where the situation is much more alarming.

-We are still relatively good because there are more severely affected countries such as Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia. This year is very unfavorable in terms of fires because we did not have a winter with snow. That was the first trigger. We already have problems with a lack of precipitation, a lack of underground precipitation. We will not have healthy vegetation. As things stand, we will see a change in weather on August 18th and 19th. There are fewer possibilities for this in Greece. A slight cooling is coming. Temperatures will drop to 25 degrees Celsius. However, the precipitation will be insufficient to alleviate the drought. Again, from August 21st, high temperatures will return, which will last until the end of August – said Sladić.
