Zenica gets a Support Center for Families of Children and Persons with Developmental Difficulties

ZENICA, (Patria) - The first Service Center for supporting families of children and persons with developmental difficulties in Zenica will be opened today in the premises of the Public Institution „Dom - porodica“ at Crkvice 20c street.

This is part of USAID's Program for Supporting Marginalized Groups, which secured 97,000 KM for launching this service center, which will be named „Dlan“.

The ceremonial opening of the Service Center will be attended by Brock Bierman, Assistant Administrator of USAID's Bureau for Europe and Eurasia, Peter Duffy, Director of USAID Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmin Bešić, Director of USAID's Program for Supporting Marginalized Groups, representatives of the City Administration of Zenica, the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy and Displaced Persons of ZDK, as well as representatives and members of the Association „Dlan“, members of the Service Center's expert team, users of the Center's services, and other guests.

The Service Center in Zenica offers free services for entire families of children and persons with disabilities and developmental difficulties from the area of Zenica-Doboj Canton and its surroundings.
The Center provides users with free stay during which psychologists, special educators and educators are available, as well as creative and inclusive workshops, while for families of children and persons with developmental difficulties, legal aid, psychological counseling, and assistance in crisis situations are provided.

The establishment of the Service Center was supported by USAID's Program for Supporting Marginalized Groups (USAID/PPMG) and the City of Zenica, and the initiator of its founding is the Association of Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy, Micro and Hydrocephalus “Dlan” from Zenica.

USAID's Program for Supporting Marginalized Groups has so far supported the establishment of five service centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Foča, Banja Luka, Tuzla, and two in Sarajevo.
