Željko Petrović is the new coach of Zrinjski

(Patria) - Željko Petrović is the new coach of Zrinjski, the Mostar club announced on its Facebook page.

"HŠK Zrinjski Mostar can officially confirm the appointment of Željko Petrović as the new head of the first team's professional staff, and the 58-year-old expert and the current champion signed a contract until June 1, 2025, today", announced the current champion of BiH.

The new coach of Plemići was born in 1965 in Nikšić. After a rich playing career, he continued to live in the Netherlands, where, after further education, he began his coaching career as an assistant to Ruud Gullit at Feyenoord.

He independently managed Dutch clubs RKC Waalwijk, ADO Den Haag, and Willem II, and also worked in Portugal (Boavista FC), Japan (Urawa Red Diamonds), Bulgaria (Botev Plovdiv), and Croatia (Inter).

He spent a large part of his coaching career as an assistant to renowned Dutchmen - first Gullit at the start of his career, then Martin Jol at the helm of HSV, Guus Hiddink with whom he collaborated at Russia's Anzhi, and most extensively Dick Advocaat with whom he worked at Sunderland, Utrecht, and Feyenoord, as well as at the helm of the national teams of Serbia and Iraq.

In England, he also worked as an assistant to the Israeli Avram Grant at West Ham, and his last engagement was in the current season at the Turkish club Adana Demirspor, where he was part of the professional staff of another Dutchman - Patrick Kluivert.

Mario Ivanković, who led Plemići at the end of autumn, remains in the professional staff as the first assistant to the head coach, and will simultaneously retain his position in the staff of the BiH A national team.

Petrović will be assisted in his work by Nenad Gagro (assistant coach), Romeo Mitrović (goalkeeper coach), Marko Čavka (fitness coach), and Filip Lekić (analyst).

The official presentation of Željko Petrović will be held tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
