
(Patria) - The cessation of Russian gas exports through Ukraine to Europe "is one of Moscow's biggest defeats," claims Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"When (Vladimir) Putin took power in Russia more than 25 years ago, the annual amount of gas delivered through Ukraine to Europe was over 130 billion cubic meters.
Today, Russian gas transit is at zero, which is one of Moscow's biggest defeats," Zelenskyy wrote yesterday on social media.

Exports of Russian natural gas to Europe via Soviet-era pipelines passing through Ukraine were halted in the early hours of the New Year as the transit contract expired and warring Moscow and Kyiv failed to reach an agreement on continuing the flow.
The European Union has doubled its efforts to reduce its dependence on Russian energy following the outbreak of the military conflict in Ukraine in 2022, seeking alternative sources.
