Zenica-Doboj Canton: Employees in cultural institutions to receive higher salaries from January 1st

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mirza Mušija discussed the functioning, future, and systemic resolution of the status of cultural institutions with the trade union representative of cultural institutions in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Elvir Škiljo.

The founders of cultural institutions in this canton, of which there are a total of 16, including one theatre, three museums, and 12 libraries, are the cities and municipalities, while the work of the institutions is almost entirely financed by the Zenica-Doboj Canton, whereas cities and municipalities participate in financing to a lesser extent or not at all.

Consequently, the status of approximately 170 employees has not been systematically resolved, which is why the trade union initiated discussions with both levels of government.

Prime Minister Pivić and Minister Mušija emphasized that they support resolving this issue, thereby enabling the normal functioning of cultural institutions.

They stressed that the transfer for cultural institutions from the budget of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, from which the salaries and benefits of employees are financed, has been increased by 10 percent since the beginning of this year, and a further 10 percent increase in this transfer is planned for 2025, which will enable a new salary increase for all employees.
