(Patria) - At the initiative of the Ministry of Interior of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, the Ministry of Finance of ZDK organized a working meeting with representatives of ASA Bank, which manages the Canton's treasury account, with the aim of
introducing the possibility of card payment of traffic fines on the spot via POS terminals.
This method of payment will be available in the first phase to foreign nationals, while in the coming period it is planned to expand to domestic citizens as well.
– Foreign nationals after 4:00 PM, when banks and post offices close, did not have the option to pay the fine. By introducing POS terminals, we will enable them to pay the fine immediately, on the spot, without the need for
additional procedures - stated the Minister of Interior, Emir Vračo.
Card payment will, in addition to increasing efficiency, also contribute to reducing the risk of corruption, since the system records every action of the police officer during the check.
The Ministry of Interior already uses the advanced information system RENATA, which has enabled faster and more efficient processing of data on drivers and vehicles, without the need for communication with duty services.
Thanks to this system, in the last seven days alone, 427 misdemeanor warrants were issued, of which 95% were to foreign nationals.
– The RENATA system and the new POS terminals enable full control and record-keeping – it is known exactly what the police officer did, what query he sent, what the camera recorded. This is an important step towards more transparent and efficient
work - emphasized Minister Vračo.
The Ministry of Finance of ZDK is the technical bearer of the project for introducing card payment and cooperates with ASA Bank in finding the most efficient solutions.
– Our goal is to ensure the simplest and fastest possible method of payment via POS terminals. We are working on technical details to make the system reliable and ready for wider implementation - said the Minister of Finance,
Dženana Čišija.
The Zenica-Doboj Canton is the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce this model of on-site fine collection. With the introduction of this system, an increase in the collection of traffic fines by at least 30-35% is expected, and additional
investments in expanding the system are also planned for 2026.
The Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton continuously invests significant funds in the modernization of the work of the Ministry of Interior, with the aim of increasing the safety and efficiency of police operations in the field.
