ZDK: Increased inspection oversight of the implementation of the Law on Limited Use of Tobacco

(Patria) - The Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs of ZDK reminds all legal and natural persons that on June 13, 2025, the Law on Control and Limited Use of Tobacco, Tobacco Products and Other Smoking Products, as well as the Rulebook on conditions for special smoking areas as exceptions to the smoking ban, entered into force.

From that date, the mandatory application of these regulations began in the territory of the Federation of BiH, including the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and all entities are obliged to align their operations accordingly.

Given the arrival of colder weather and increased time spent by citizens indoors, inspectors of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs will conduct enhanced inspection oversight in the coming period at all entities covered by these legal regulations. In cases of identified irregularities, all legally prescribed measures will be taken.

Violations of the provisions of the Law and the Rulebook are subject to financial penalties. For legal entities, fines range from 500 KM to 5,000 KM; for responsible persons in legal entities, from 300 KM to 1,000 KM; and for owners and users of premises, as well as persons responsible for the operation of catering facilities where smoking is prohibited, fines range from 500 KM to 2,500 KM.

"We call on all entities operating in the territory of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, to which the Law and the Rulebook apply, to timely align their operations with the current regulations in order to avoid potential sanctions.

Also, we call on citizens, with the aim of protecting health and creating a safer environment, to report any observed irregularities related to the implementation of the Law and the Rulebook," stated the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs.
