Due to the Law on Civil Service and Salaries, the Union Demands an Urgent Meeting with the Sarajevo Canton Government

(Patria) - The Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of Sarajevo Canton, the Union of Police of Sarajevo Canton, and the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Authorities, Judicial Authorities, and Public Institutions in FBiH - Coordination Board of Sarajevo Canton have addressed the Government and Assembly of Sarajevo Canton with a request for an urgent meeting.

The reason for this urgent meeting is the proposed amendments to the Law on Civil Service of Sarajevo Canton and the Law on Salaries and Allowances in the Authorities of Sarajevo Canton. They believe these amendments will not be in the interest of civil servants and employees and have caused concern for these unions, which represent the interests of civil servants and employees working in the state authorities of Sarajevo Canton.

For over a year, these unions have been submitting various initiatives to the Government and Assembly of Sarajevo Canton to improve the status of civil servants and employees, as well as to increase salaries. However, their proposals have not been accepted to date.

"Therefore, at the union meeting held on 07.06.2024, it was concluded to urgently request a meeting with representatives of the Government and Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, where the proposed legal amendments will be discussed. If there is no understanding for their request, the unions will be forced to take radical union measures," stated the press release from the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of Sarajevo Canton.

The request was signed by the president of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of Sarajevo Canton, Elvis Zornić, the president of the Union of Police of Sarajevo Canton, Saim Smajlović, and the president of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Authorities, Judicial Authorities, and Public Institutions in FBiH - Coordination Board of Sarajevo Canton, Enes Šabić.
