Due to a large number of amendments, the Code of Conduct for MPs has been returned to the Committee

MPs of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA are today also considering the Proposal of the Code of Conduct for MPs and delegates in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, which was sent to parliamentary procedure by the Joint Committee for Human Rights, reports the news agency Patria.

The Code, among other things, prohibits the consumption of alcohol and food, the use of mobile phones, and reading newspapers during sessions of the highest legislative body in BiH.

During the debate, MPs expressed their dissatisfaction with certain provisions. Some objected to the fact that the Code states that the majority's position is presented first in statements.

- That is the destruction of democracy in Parliament - stated Staša Košarac, an SNSD MP.

MPs were also bothered by the clause that speaks of impartiality.

- A clause speaking of equality appears in all legal texts, and it is awkwardly stated. I would rephrase the terms, because it is about natural gender. The grammatical relationship to this is one thing, and the natural gender is another - stated Hanka Vajzović, a DF MP.

Borjana Krišto, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, stated that she had listened carefully to all speakers, wanting to know how they arrived at this Code.

- I ask everyone to refrain from debate because we have 16 amendments, including those from members of the Human Rights Committee. We need to send this back to the Committee for harmonization - stated Krišto.

After the vote, the proposal to submit all amendments to the Human Rights Committee was adopted, and the harmonized draft code will be considered at the next session.
