Due to the state of emergency, Cvijanović can pass acts with the force of law

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) - The President of Republika Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, emphasized that the National Assembly declared a state of emergency in RS today due to the situation caused by the coronavirus, and that means the president also takes over certain responsibilities.

The President of Republika Srpska gains new responsibilities to pass acts with the force of law. This means the president of RS will not act alone, Cvijanović said in an address from the Palace of the Republic.

She emphasized that this does not mean the suspension of the National Assembly.

She said that all possibilities available in previous weeks have been exhausted, and it is time to enter the legislative sphere to change certain laws that will allow intervention in several areas affected by the epidemic.

This applies to the economy affected by the epidemic, as well as to the educational sector.

She expressed hope that this will be a temporary state lasting a few weeks, possibly a few months.
