(Patria) - The Appellate Panel of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of Judge Staniša Gluhajić, as Presiding Judge, and Judges Azra Miletić and Amela Huskić, today issued a second-instance verdict in the case against Zijad Mutap, Alisa Ramić (formerly Mutap), Hasan Dupovac, Josip Barić, and Muamer Ožegović.
Alisa Mutap was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, and Hasan Dupovac to three years in prison. Alisa Ramić (Mutap) was convicted of giving a false statement, and Dupovac for abuse of position. They were acquitted of organized crime charges. Mutap-Ramić was in the company of Dženan Memić on the night of February 8, 2016, when he sustained injuries, while Dupovac was the head of traffic investigations at the time and wrote a report about a traffic accident, even though it did not happen as ruled by the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo.
The other defendants in this case were acquitted.
Zijad Mutap, Hasan Dupovac, Alisa Mutap (Ramić), Josip Barić, and Muamer Ožegović were charged by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH with joining an organized crime group, formed by Zijad Mutap to conceal evidence about the manner in which Dženan Memić sustained severe life-threatening injuries on February 8, 2016, from which he died.
The defendants in this case were tried before the Appellate Panel after the annulment of the first-instance verdict by which they were acquitted.
