System failure in Croatia causes major traffic jams at the border

(Patria) - Due to a system failure in Croatia, crossing the state border was impossible.

The system failure in Croatia was soon fixed, and all border crossings are now operational again. Long queues of passenger vehicles are forming at the exits from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Velika Kladuša, Bosanska Gradiška, and Gradina.

Due to protests in Croatia, buses and trucks cannot use the Orašje-Županja border crossing.

According to collected data, traffic on most routes in Bosnia and Herzegovina this morning is on wet and slippery roads, while traffic is difficult and slow on sections in higher mountain areas, reports BIHAMK.

We highlight the sections where traffic is difficult due to compacted snow or ice: Sarajevo-Olovo-Kladanj, Bosanski Petrovac-Oštrelj-Drvar, Ripač-Vrtoče-Bosanski Petrovac-Ključ, Priluka-Glamoč-Mliništa, Bugojno-Kupres-Šuica-Livno, Tomsilavgrad-Šuica, Prozor-Gornji Vakuf/Uskoplje, Novi Travnik-Bugojno, Sarajevo-Rogatica, Trnovo-Foča, and Han Pijesak-Vlasenica. A ban on traffic for heavy goods vehicles is currently in effect on Romanija.

Additional problems for drivers, especially in central and southwestern Bosnia, are caused by intermittent strong winds.

We note that possessing winter equipment on roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina is legally mandatory.

Reconstruction of the Begića i Begovića bridge (Jablanica-Mostar) is underway, due to which traffic on the bridge is regulated by traffic lights, with alternating vehicle passage.

Reconstruction works are also being carried out on the main roads: Novi Travnik-Bugojno (via Rostovo), Bilješevo-Lašva, Ključ-Sanski Most (at the entrance to Sanski Most, near the Water Park), and Čevljanovići-Nišići. Traffic is slow at the work sites, with alternating vehicle passage.
