IDDEEA equipment failure prevents issuance of ID cards, passports, driver's licenses

(Patria) - The Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) is currently unable to ensure continuity in providing certain services to users, including services related to the issuance of ID cards and driver's licenses.

As announced this morning by IDDEEA, the reason is a failure in the information equipment.

"Yesterday around 12 o'clock, there was a problem with the information equipment under the jurisdiction of IDDEEA. This problem resulted in difficulties in the operation of a large part of our system, due to the significant number of resources located on the mentioned infrastructure.

Unfortunately, due to this problem, the Agency is currently unable to ensure continuity in providing certain services to our users. It is especially important to highlight the ministries of internal affairs through which citizens submit requests for the issuance of all travel documents, ID cards, driver's licenses, then the technical inspection stations through which citizens perform vehicle technical inspections, as well as data exchange with all other competent authorities - it is stated in the announcement.

They attribute these problems to the inability to procure new equipment.

- It is important to emphasize that in previous years we have planned the procurement of adequate equipment for these purposes several times, but we were unable to realize it due to a lack of budget, i.e., the cancellation of the procurement. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds and the failure in the procurement process in 2022 (the procedure was canceled, and after that, we no longer had funds in the budget to restart the procurement procedures), we have not yet managed to secure a new system. The Agency has again planned the procurement of the mentioned equipment this year, however, as all state institutions are still under temporary financing, we do not have the possibility to procure it - IDDEEA announced.

They added that the equipment they have was purchased in 2012. They emphasized that their employees have been working continuously for the last 20 hours and are making additional efforts to normalize the situation as soon as possible.
