End of participation at EC: Italy too strong for BiH volleyball players

(Patria) - BiH volleyball players played their last match tonight at the European Championship being held in Italy, Belgium, Germany, and Estonia.

The women's volleyball national team of our country needed a victory in Turin against the current European champions to reach the round of 16, but Italy was simply stronger, and with three sets won, we said goodbye to further participation in the competition.

Stevan Ljubičić's players started the group stage well, but the decisive match was considered the duel with Romania on Monday.

After five sets and a great fight, our girls were defeated, leaving only theoretical chances for the knockout stage.

The Italian national team was a big favorite tonight and ultimately won easily, 3-0, with set scores of 25:21, 25:17, and 25:19.

The Italians finished the group stage without losing a set and advanced from group B to the round of 16 as group leaders. They will certainly be the main favorites for gold until the end.

Along with the Italian team, Bulgaria, Romania, and Switzerland also advanced from our group, while BiH and Croatia, who won only one point in the tournament, were eliminated.

BiH volleyball players were very close with five points (2-3 win-loss record), and the impression is that qualification for the knockout stage was squandered yesterday against Romania.

Let us remind you that this was the second consecutive appearance of BiH volleyball players at the European Championship.
