The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina concluded an emergency session where previously made decisions on the allocation of funds to lower levels of government – cantons, cities, and municipalities, in order to combat the coronavirus, were reviewed and annulled.
At the proposal of the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, a proposal was adopted to direct the aforementioned funds of 21 million KM, instead of to cantonal, city, and municipal budgets, directly towards the procurement of medical and other equipment for combating the coronavirus, which will be distributed to the most vulnerable areas in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The funds will be redirected to the Ministry of Health. As confirmed to us, Novalić will request, when the decision is made again, that the criterion for allocation be the number of inhabitants and that the distribution go through cantonal public health institutes.
The Federal Ministry of Finance is tasked with redirecting 21 million KM from the Current Transfer to other levels of government and funds – cantons and municipalities – to the Current Reserve of the FBiH Government, and the FBiH Government will redirect these funds to the Federal Ministry of Health for the procurement of medical equipment necessary for combating the coronavirus – COVID 19.
