(Patria) - The first international piano competition Memorial „Matusja Blum“, held as part of the program marking the Day of the Municipality of Stari Grad, was ceremonially concluded last night with the
award ceremony and a concert at the Sarajevo Music Academy. The awards were presented by the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and as many as 129 competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Austria, and Italy took part in this piano competition.
The Memorial was jointly organized by the „Mladen Pozajić“ Elementary School and the Sarajevo Secondary Music School. Support was provided by the Stari Grad Municipality, the Government of Sarajevo Canton, and the Embassy of the Republic of France
in BiH, whose ambassador, His Excellency Guillaume Rousson, also attended last night's ceremony. The director of the „Mladen Pozajić“ Elementary School, Mustafa Mujbegović, congratulated all participants and the expert jury, and expressed special gratitude to the Stari Grad Municipality.
„Thanks to Mayor Hadžibajrić and his administration, the piano Memorial was included in the program marking the Day of the Stari Grad Municipality and thus became possible. I sincerely hope that next year we will be able to hold an even better memorial, at an even higher and more qualitative level than this one,“ said Director Mujbegović.
Awards were given to young pianists in several categories determined by age; the best were: Sara Grejs Ivanović (born 2010, Montenegro), Tracy Huang (born 2009, Serbia), Klara Volenik (born 2007, Croatia), Anja Sekulić (born 2004, Montenegro), Una Miljuš (born 2005, Serbia), Anđela Dinić (born 2001, Serbia), Melika Buza (born 1999, Austria), Nadir Hošić (born 1997, BiH).
Eldar Derviškadić Best Player of the 5th Backgammon Tournament „Sarajevo Open“
On the occasion of marking the Day of the Stari Grad Municipality, the 5th Backgammon Tournament was held yesterday, and the most successful player was Eldar Derviškadić from the local Backgammon Club „Vratnik“. The backgammon matches were played at the Vratnik Cultural Center, and among 37 players, Eldar Derviškadić took first place.
The backgammon players were visited yesterday by the Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and in addition to the Municipality, the organization of this competition was supported by the Backgammon Association of BiH.
Second place was won by Džemil Čohodar (BK „Šešbes Konjic“), while third was Mehmet Ibrahimi (BK „Brezovo polje-Brčko“). A special award was given to 81-year-old Hasan Abadžić (BK „Vratnik“), otherwise the oldest backgammon player in our country, who finished fourth overall yesterday. The best received trophies and cash prizes, all provided by the tournament organizer BK „Vratnik“. From this unique sports collective from Stari Grad, they announce that a large backgammon tournament will be held in August, with numerous players from across the country participating, supported by the Stari Grad Municipality.
