International ERMA Master Program Concluded

The ceremony for awarding certificates to the 24th generation of students of the European Regional Master's Program in Democracy and Human Rights in Southeast Europe (GCSEE/ERMA) was held today, with 17 students receiving their certificates from this prestigious international master's program. The event, held at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies „Prof. Zdravko Grebo“ of the University of Sarajevo, gathered diplomats, university staff, the ERMA team, and students. Since the program's inception, approximately 680 students, primarily from Southeast Europe, the European Union, and other countries, have successfully completed this program. Master's students earn a double degree from the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna.

The ceremony began with a welcome address by the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović. Following this, addresses were given by Riccardo Righelli, Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Aurélie Valtat, Head of the Section for „European Integration, Political Affairs, Press and Information“ at the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and the Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH.

Representatives of the 2024/2025 generation, Nura Hamzić and Adna Mujović, shared their reflections on their academic and personal experiences during this intensive academic year, while members of the ERMA Alumni Network (EAN), Anju Marie Sadasivam and Clara Salaverria Embid, also addressed the attendees.

The program co-directors, Prof. Marco Borraccetti and Prof. Asim Mujkić, presented the report for the 2024/2025 academic year and announced the names of students whose final theses were recognized as the best, along with other accompanying awards.

Armin Tufo was awarded a six-month paid internship funded by the Global Campus of Human Rights, in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement. Entenela Ndrevataj's final thesis will be published in the Global Campus of Human Rights repository, while the theses of Adna Mujović and Tarik Hodžić were declared the best and will be published in the ERMA Best Theses Booklet.

The ERMA program is a joint initiative of several universities from Southeast Europe and the European Union. Since its establishment in 2000, the program has been supported by European funding, and for over a decade, funds have been provided by the European Union (INTPA) through the Global Campus of Human Rights network.

The University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna extend their sincere congratulations to the master's graduates and warmly welcome them as new members of the Alumni Network, wishing them much success in their future professional endeavors.
