Excavation of graves for 33 genocide victims completed in Potočari

(Patria) - In the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, the memorial and cemetery for the victims of the 1995 genocide, the excavation of graves for 33 genocide victims was carried out today, who will find their final resting place on July 11, 2019, in the cemetery of the Memorial Center.

The contractor, JKP "Komemorativni centar" d.o.o. Tuzla, began excavating graves in the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, the memorial and cemetery for the victims of the 1995 genocide, on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Today, July 8, 2019, the excavation of the graves was completed, so the cemetery will be fully prepared for the burial of the remains of 33 genocide victims in Srebrenica on July 11, 2019.

The coffins with the remains of 33 victims killed during the genocide in July 1995 in the Srebrenica area, who will be buried on July 11 in the Memorial Center in Potočari, have been prepared for burial.

Tomorrow at 10 AM, a procession is planned to depart from JKP Gradska groblja Visoko, in which the coffins with the remains of the victims will be transported in a hearse covered with the BiH flag. After stopping in Ilijaš around 10:30 AM, the truck will proceed towards Vogošća, where it will stop, as in previous years.

It is planned that this somber procession, on its way to Potočari, will also stop in front of the BiH Presidency building in Sarajevo, where every year a large number of citizens, as well as representatives of the authorities and the international community, pay tribute to the murdered victims.
