Detention requested for two Afghans who injured migrants, police searching for other attackers

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office proposed to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo to order one-month detention for two citizens of Afghanistan due to the criminal offense of attempted murder.

"Detention has been proposed for them due to the danger of flight, danger of influencing accomplices, concealing evidence, committing the criminal offense again, and due to the danger that the public could be disturbed by the presence of the suspects at liberty.

Ismail Ghani and Faisal Ahmadzai are suspected of having shot at six migrants with rifles and pistols two nights ago in Kamenolom Street with two other migrants, two of whom sustained serious life-threatening injuries", the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office announced.

Last night and this morning, the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton is carrying out activities in the wider area of Stojčevac towards Igman in order to find other perpetrators, and six migrants were injured in the shooting.

Given that the shooting occurred in the immediate vicinity of the reception center in Blažuj, the mayor of Ilidža municipality, Nermin Muzur, requested that the situation be resolved or he will block the center.

The director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, Žarko Laketa, also admitted that there is increased migratory pressure on Sarajevo, and that he understands the concerns and requests of Mayor Muzur.
