Our Party MP Damir Nikšić claims: Skenderija targeted by sheikh, must be declared a national monument urgently

(Patria) - Damir Nikšić, MP of Our Party in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, published a text on his Facebook profile titled "Battle for Skenderija".

Nikšić, among other things, insists that the Cultural and Sports Center Skenderija be declared a national monument as soon as possible, thus preventing its possible demolition and the alleged construction of new facilities at that location.

- Some sources claim that the same sheikh who invested in "Belgrade Waterfront" is behind this project, wrote Nikšić, explaining that there are plans that have been "circulating" for years, and that he received them back in 2019.

In a lengthy Facebook post, he warns that Skenderija must be protected, urgently declared a national monument, and become the cultural center of Sarajevo.

"I act through the social-liberal 'Our Party'. 'Our Party' represents the citizens of Sarajevo who believe that Skenderija must be preserved and restored, declared a national monument that, in addition to its prescribed activities, will also have its own museums: of art, music and sports that tourists can visit and become more familiar with the city, a center that the citizens of Sarajevo built themselves through self-contribution and which must serve not only the citizens of Sarajevo, but all citizens of BiH, given that Sarajevo is its capital. KSC Skenderija should serve all Bosnian-Herzegovinian artists, athletes and businessmen," stated Nikšić.
