(Patria) - The State Investigation and Protection Agency is providing different answers to the same questions. In early February 2026, SIPA told Patria that 35 police officers from the Bosniak community meet the conditions for retirement during 2026. In the same response, they stated that 13 Serbs and nine Croats are retiring.

The answer Patria received in early February
In early March, SIPA provided an answer to state representative Aida Baručija, and received a different answer to the same question. She requested data by rank and ethnicity.
The number of Bosniaks retiring during 2026 is ten higher compared to the answer previously provided to Patria, making it unclear how the number increased if the data is continuously updated. Furthermore, in the first two months of 2026, retirement decisions for police officers have already been made, mostly for Bosniaks, making it unclear why the number of Bosniaks who must retire is constantly growing.

The number of Bosniaks due for retirement has sharply increased
According to SIPA's response, 12 Serbs (13 a month earlier), four Croats (five a month earlier), and 45 Bosniaks (35 a month earlier) are retiring.
Patria previously reported that numerous positions will become vacant after the retirement of Bosniaks, especially concerning the highest ranks. Currently, SIPA has only two chief inspectors (Amer Veiz and Jasmin Gogić, who is retiring in July). SIPA Director Darko Ćulum refuses to announce competitions for promotion, and according to unofficial information reaching Patria, he is waiting for "the politicians to agree."
