Why Galić still sees a problem with Komšić, but not with Kordić who would 'do it all again'

(Patria) - The decision of the BiH Prosecutor's Office not to investigate the member of the Presidency Željko Komšić, following a report by Slaven Galić, Deputy Minister of Defense of BiH, is causing an interesting legal-political reflection, not only because of the content of the report itself, but also because of the selective approach of those who file them.

Komšić was reported for a speech on the occasion of the unveiling of a monument to General Mehmed Alagić, and Galić, who was the reporter in this case, claims that Komšić's speech incites national and religious intolerance because, among other things, he spoke positively about the Army of RBiH general against whom proceedings were conducted in The Hague, although a final verdict was never reached.

However, Galić, interestingly, never reported Dario Kordić, a convicted war criminal from BiH by the Hague Tribunal, who, after his release from prison, stated that he 'would not change anything' and that he 'would do it all again'. Is the glorification of a convicted war criminal, without any note of repentance, less problematic than a speech about a general who was never convicted? Or is the problem only when the speech comes 'from the other side'?

Galić, as reported by Detektor, announces that he will file a complaint against the Prosecutor's Office's decision, but it would be useful for him to explain to the public why his concern for 'hate speech' is not equally sensitive to all sides.

Justice, if it is truly justice, cannot have double standards.
