Why hasn't the Directorate strengthened protection measures for prosecutor Kajmaković until now?

Diana Kajmaković, a prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina who works on the most serious criminal cases, had the brakes on her car cut, a news story that has spread across the region, writes the news agency Patria.

Condemnations have come from all sides, and the Prosecutor's Office stated that nothing will frighten them and that they will continue working on uncovering crime and corruption.

Nevertheless, few have questioned how it is possible that the prosecutor working on the case “Zijad Turković and others” did not already have enhanced protection measures from the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These measures, as stated by Mirsad Vilić, the director of the Directorate, have only now been strengthened, after the prosecutor was the target of yet another attack!?

Given that the prosecutor had previously been a target of attacks and openly received threats even in court, and that Zijad Turković had been greeting her in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for days with „bašum sagosum“ (an expression of condolence among Muslims), it is unclear why she did not have additional protection earlier.

We sent an inquiry to the Directorate and wanted to find out what the enhanced protection measures for prosecutor Diana Kajmaković entail, and how it is possible that, despite the protection of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies, someone could cut the brakes on her car?

We also sought information on how many police officers were securing the prosecutor, given that she was constantly receiving threats, and whether protection measures should have been strengthened earlier.

However, in a very brief response from the Directorate, we were told:

- The Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies will not comment until it receives the final expert report on the prosecutor's car – Nataša Sikimić from the Directorate told us.

Upon our insistence that she clarify why we cannot get answers to the questions posed, Sikimić said:

- I received this response from our management, and for now, that is the answer I can give – Sikimić added.
