Independent Board session: Opening of bids for SIPA director on Wednesday

On Wednesday, September 16, the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina will convene to open the received applications from candidates for the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), reports the Patria news agency.

As confirmed by the Independent Board, nine sealed envelopes were received by the closing of the competition.

The Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conducting the competition procedure, and it will forward a list of up to five candidates to the state minister of security, who will then propose one candidate from the list to the Council of Ministers for confirmation of appointment.

The new head of SIPA, who will replace acting director Đuro Knežević, should be appointed by October 5. It is currently known that this position will go to someone from the Serbian people, and judging by the constellation of relations in the state government, it could be a police officer close to the Alliance for Change.

We recall, former SIPA director Goran Zubac was dismissed after being found guilty by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina of negligent work in office. As director of SIPA, he refused to assist the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies when the building of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina was set on fire during violent riots on February 7, 2014.
