(Patria) - Arman Zalihić today on the social network Facebook explained why he submitted an irrevocable resignation from the position of president of the SDP Mostar City Committee after five years. He very clearly listed the individuals, including the very top of the party, who, contrary to the statute, interfered in the work of the City Committee and its members, exerting pressure.
"I took over the branch during a period of catastrophic election results, at a time when only a few still visited the SDP. In just two years, at the Local Elections in Mostar, we brought the party to its best election result ever, and my humble self won the highest number of preferential votes of all candidates in any election on the SDP lists in the City of Mostar.
In the second election cycle in which I led the SDP Mostar, at the last General Elections, we achieved growth of over 50% compared to the previous General Elections, making us the fourth most successful SDP organization in the country. First of all, immense thanks to my associates, without whom all this would have been impossible, comrades in the truest sense of the word who stood shoulder to shoulder with me, working in the interest of the SDP and the citizens.
I sincerely tried to listen and be available to every SDP member and every citizen. To be the locomotive of the SDP, first in the Council, and now in the Assembly, not shying away from entering the fiercest debates, pointing out crime, corruption and nepotism.
The reason for the resignation is that a malicious group of people has been carrying out legal violence against the majority of City Committee members for a long period, grossly violating the SDP Statute, and yesterday the very top of the Party joined this legal violence. When they failed to shake the confidence of the City Committee members in my work with their morbid lies and intrigues, they used the fact that two minority members, Aner Žuljević and Lana Prlić, are also members of the Presidency of the SDP BiH. The mentioned 'comrades' deceived the Presidency into forming a working group to examine relations in the allegedly divided Mostar City Committee. Unlike the deceived members of the Presidency, who probably did not even know what they were voting for, President Nikšić quite consciously sided with the malicious group.
I do not at all hold Nikšić's sympathies towards Prlić and Žuljević against him, however, I do hold against him that he played a key role in making a non-statutory decision by which the SDP top brass vents its frustration on the democratically and legitimately elected City Committee of our organization. Based on the lies about me and the City Committee presented by the malicious group, which, besides Aner Žuljević and Lana Prlić, consists of Aner Žuljević's brother and Lana Prlić's best friend, the Presidency of SDP BiH decided that the conclusions on the fate of our organization should be proposed by a Working Group whose majority consists of Lana Prlić, her best friend, Aner Žuljević and his brother, completely ignoring the democratically and legally elected City Committee!
The reason for the attack lies in the unfulfilled personal interests of individuals from the group, as well as in the fear of whether family and friends will get passing places in the upcoming local elections.
Among other things, they do not forgive us that the ministerial function is performed by a man who is a university professor, a doctor of science without a single stain on his career, and that SDP Mostar is no longer a private party of family, friends and godparents, but a party increasingly visited by new, young, highly educated and professionally uncompromised people.
I generously leave the creation of lists and the organization of the campaign to them, and I wish them much luck and success, and we will compare the results after the elections.
In the coming period, I am dedicating myself to even more intensive work as a representative in the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH for the benefit of the citizens of Mostar, Herzegovina and BiH," Zalihić stated.
