Joint stance of four federal MPs: Ex-servicemen must not be deceived, Lokmić must resolve the veteran's allowance

(Patria) - The working group, formed by the FBiH Government in February at the proposal of the Federal Ministry for Affairs of Veterans and Disabled of the Defensive-Liberation War, has held three meetings, but without any concrete solutions. The Trojka and the FBiH Government must stop pretending to work and openly state whether they lack the political will or are incapable of implementing it. It is even more dangerous that they are clearly waiting for next year, when they will try to use the veterans for pre-election purposes, as a means of political bargaining and cheap promises, according to a joint statement by four federal MPs Almedin Aliefendić, Fahrudin Skopljak, Hajrudin Žilić, and Hamdija Abdić.

"In this regard, it is concerning that there are no proposed legislative changes, no financial plan, no clear date, and only attempts by Minister Nedžad Lokmić to shift responsibility onto veteran associations and sow discord among them. Everything is clearly reduced to politicization and waiting for the election year, while the veterans, the people who defended this country, remain humiliated, disenfranchised, and deceived.

It is particularly concerning that neither the Ministry, nor the Government, nor the parliamentary majority have answers to the basic questions: how, when, and in what amount will the veteran's allowance be introduced. There are many questions, and no answers.

This means that responsibility for this situation lies primarily with the Trojka and its FBiH Government, as well as Minister Nedžad Lokmić. As the head of the department expected to propose clear legislative changes, define amounts, and secure funds in the budget, he has failed to provide solutions and concrete steps. Instead of taking a leadership role, Lokmić is trying to shift responsibility onto veteran associations and create an illusion of division, while time passes and veterans are left without what is rightfully theirs. If the problem is that he does not have the support of Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, the FBiH Government, or the ruling Trojka, he should state it clearly, instead of hiding the truth behind procedural excuses," the MPs state.
