Last days of June, and still no key EU laws: European Council on Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - The European Council is discussing Bosnia and Herzegovina for the next two days, but expectations are low. The political blockade in the country continues to hinder the adoption of key EU laws, and the informal deadline for progress towards opening negotiations and accessing funds from the Growth Plan expires at the end of June.

In the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, there is still no agreement on the Law on the HJPC and the Law on the Court of BiH – there are two different proposals: HDZ's in the House of Peoples and the Trojka's in the House of Representatives.

Predrag Kojović (Our Party) believes that SNSD and HDZ are the main brakes on reforms, while Dragan Čović says that without an agreement, political silence will follow.

Milorad Dodik proposes a "people's delegation of RS" for dialogue with Bosniaks, while Elmedin Konaković (NiP) accuses HDZ of rejecting other partners and trying to align EU laws with SNSD.

Head of the EU Delegation, Luigi Soreca, warns that the Reform Agenda must be finalized by the Western Balkans Leaders Summit in Skopje on June 30, which is a prerequisite for accessing European funds amounting to up to one billion euros.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is on the agenda, but without concrete results, it remains a country not ready for negotiations.
