Between 10,000 and 70,000 KM to be allocated for NGO projects

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, will also finance NGO projects this year, with the amount that can be obtained per project ranging from 10,000 to 70,000 KM. Projects must be implemented in the area of Stari Grad within a maximum of nine months, and all formally registered CSOs and NGOs (associations or foundations) can participate in the public call, in accordance with applicable legal regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Proposed projects must be in line with the “Local Development Strategy of the Municipality of Stari Grad” and fall within the seven established areas: education, culture and arts, environmental protection, employment, social policy, youth and sports.

Specifically, projects proposed by non-governmental organisations/civil society organisations should cover segments such as: non-formal education and lifelong learning, training for caregivers of the elderly and infirm, affirmation and promotion of tradition and cultural heritage, raising environmental awareness, encouraging programmes in the field of labour and employment, studying old crafts, organic production, prevention of domestic violence, sports activities, competitions and others.

The deadline for applications to the public call is 27 June 2019, until 15:00 hours, and all details can be found on the municipal website www.starigrad.ba/public calls, tenders and advertisements. Selected projects must be implemented in the period from August 2019 to April 2020.

One civil society organisation may submit several project proposals, with the maximum amount of funds that can be awarded for the implementation of projects to one organisation over three years being 120,000 KM.

ReLOaD is a regional project financed by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in six countries/territories of the Western Balkans: Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia.

For NGO/CSO projects under this type of public call in 2017, which were implemented in 2018 in Stari Grad, around 200,000 KM was allocated. Some of the funded projects include: „Living Healthy“ - Association for the Promotion and Improvement of Health "Generacija", "Integration into Society through Swimming" - Swimming Club "SPID" Sarajevo, „Start-up Centre of the Municipality of Stari Grad“ - Foundation "Infohouse" Sarajevo and others.

Today, between 11:00 and 12:00 hours, an „open day“ for interested participants in the public call will be held in the Wedding Hall of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo. This will be an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the guidelines for applicants and to be informed about common mistakes that CSOs made in the previous public call.
