180,000 KM Allocated from Novi Grad Municipality Budget to Support Associations of Veterans

(Patria) - The Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo has allocated 180,000 KM from this year's budget to support the work of associations that gather the veteran population from the Novi Grad municipality.

Contracts for the financing of projects for 15 veteran associations were signed in the Municipality building.

The Assistant Mayor for Veteran Affairs, Labor, Social Affairs, and Health, Tajib Delalić, emphasized the importance of the allocated funds for the work of veteran associations, stating that it is one way to support the cultivation of a culture of remembrance for our fallen soldiers and martyrs, and events that occurred during the aggression against our country from 1992-1995.

“Today, we signed contracts with 15 representatives of associations that exist in our municipality. 180,000 KM has been allocated for assistance to associations that gather the veteran population. Following the session of the Commission that evaluated which projects would be valued, a decision was made by the Municipal Council, and the funds have been almost entirely spent. The remaining funds of 4,750 KM are intended for the purchase of flower bouquets for the associations, which will be laid at the memorials of martyrs and fallen soldiers. Support for veteran associations is very important if we want to have a culture of remembrance and commemorate significant events; we must support these associations because they gather the veteran population,” said Delalić.

Osman Đozo, president of the Association of War Invalids Novi Grad Sarajevo, stated that the funds allocated to them this year will be used to commemorate important dates, figures, and events from the period of aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for the financing of the association's employees.

“This support is very significant for the work of associations, especially for associations of general interest. Without the funds allocated by the Municipality of Novi Grad, we would not be able to commemorate important dates, and consequently, what happened to us during the aggression against our country would be forgotten,” stated Đozo.
