Wimbledon to introduce lifetime ban for tennis spectators who run onto courts

As if the rain, which interrupted many matches and caused chaos in the schedule, wasn't enough - there were also protesters.

Namely, during the match between Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov and Japan's Sho Shimabukuro, protesters with "Just stop oil" signs on their shirts ran onto the court.

While running on the court, they also scattered orange confetti and the official Wimbledon puzzle.

The fans did not like this at all, and the protesters were met with whistles, and now they should receive a lifetime ban from the courts, reports Sportske novosti.

According to the Daily Mail, the All England Club intends to implement these measures, which is a rare measure that has only been issued to a few fans, although formal processes still need to be completed before issuing the orders.

One of the culprits, Simon Milner-Edwards, had previously visited Wimbledon as a tennis fan, and he, William Ward, and Deborah Wilde, accomplices in the incident, were released on bail on Thursday and will appear in court on August 7.

This would not be the first time someone has received a lifetime ban. Last year, YouTuber JiDion was "a victim" of this policy after shouting from the audience during the match between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.

The planned course of action on this occasion is a clear warning to all other protesters who intend to do something similar at this year's tournament, and it remains to be seen how the protesters will be punished.
