Wigemark at a meeting in the KS Government

SARAJevo, (Patria) - KS Prime Minister Edin Forto and ministers in the KS Government hosted the Ambassador of the European Union to BiH Lars Gunnar Wigemark and his associates today at a meeting on the topic of the role and position of cantonal assemblies and governments in the integration processes of our country into the European Union.

Along with congratulations to the Assembly and Government of Sarajevo Canton on the significant results in the first months of their work, the EU Delegation and the Office of the EU Special Representative highlighted the role of cantonal authorities in providing support for fulfilling Bosnia and Herzegovina's obligations in implementing legal, administrative, and economic reforms arising from the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

Ambassador Wigemark told the Government to use its positive momentum and actively engage in the country's EU approximation processes, which will intensify in the coming period.

The inconsistency of regulations at different levels of government will require a comprehensive approach to achieve greater harmonization of regulations, in accordance with the legal acquis of the European Union, the EU Delegation stated.

Prime Minister Forto emphasized the importance of coordinating Sarajevo Canton with European Union institutions, especially in the initiated anti-corruption processes in the Canton. The Government of Sarajevo Canton will strengthen its administrative capacities and cooperate with the Directorate for European Integration to ensure an adequate response in policy planning and coordination of work in the integration processes of our country into the European Union.
