HJC BiH to vote this week on extending President Sanin Bogunić's mandate

(Patria) - Members of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJC) of BiH will vote this week on extending the mandate of President Sanin Bogunić, as his membership in the HJC of BiH is expiring.

Bogunić, who became a member of the HJC in September 2021, is nearing the end of his four-year term, as confirmed to Detektor, and his membership will most likely be extended at the session scheduled for this week.

Then, as stated in the agenda for the session scheduled for Thursday, September 4, the President and Vice-Presidents of the Council will be elected.

This concerns the extension of the function of the HJC President, as well as for Vice-Presidents Sanela Gorušanović Butigan and Velimir Ninković.

Bogunić has held the position of President of the Council since February 2025. At the time, he stated that the new Council would move towards transparency and insist on resolving high-profile corruption and crime cases.

- Full implementation of the 2024-2028 reform program is my top priority, aiming to improve BiH's judiciary.

The first measure we will take is the efficiency and quality of work of courts and prosecutor's offices, strengthening the transparency of the HJC, as well as courts and prosecutor's offices in BiH - Bogunić said at the beginning of the year.

Bogunić previously held the position of prosecutor in the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, where he served as Head of the Department for Economic Crime and Corruption from January 2015 to December 2018.
