SARAJEVO, (Patria) - On Saturday around 2:20 PM in the municipality of Vogošća, in the Miholjčići area, multiple shots were fired, alarming citizens who alerted the police.

Immediately upon receiving the report, several police patrols were dispatched to the mentioned location, confirming the report's validity. It turned out to be a wedding gathering, despite prior orders and recommendations from competent authorities prohibiting gatherings to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Through further operational work, police officers identified the individuals involved in committing the criminal offense of "causing general danger and illegal possession of weapons." Three individuals were detained and taken to the holding cells of the Security of Objects and Detained Persons Unit of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior Police Administration.

The duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton was informed about the incident. Acting on the prosecutor's authorization, police officers from the Police Administration conducted an on-site investigation, finding 71 shell casings from the use of firearms.

Based on an oral order from the duty judge of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, a search of a vehicle was conducted, during which one pistol was found. Subsequently, a house was searched, where another pistol was also found. These items are considered evidence linked to the commission of the described criminal offenses.

Police officers are continuing their work to document the committed criminal offenses.

"We warn all those who behave irresponsibly during this coronavirus pandemic situation and do not respect the orders of the competent authorities that they will be sanctioned in accordance with the law, especially if their behavior further disturbs the public, as was the case today, where, in addition to gathering, they also caused unnecessary danger to citizens living in this area through the use of weapons.

We call on citizens to fully cooperate with the Sarajevo Canton police and to report any information about gatherings in the Sarajevo Canton area, as well as other information of interest to the general safety of citizens and their property," the statement reads.
