Water levels of Una, Bosna, Sana, Sava continue to rise

(Patria) - A slight rise in water levels is currently being recorded at most hydrological stations in the Una and Sana river basins. The levels at which notification of potential flooding begins (for flood-prone areas defined by the Flood Operational Plan) have been reached at the Klokot hydrological station on the Una River, and at the Ključ and Sanski Most hydrological stations on the Sana River. According to prognostic meteorological models, maximum precipitation occurred during the past night.

A decrease in precipitation intensity to minimal values is forecast during the day. According to prognostic hydrological models, a slight increase in water levels in the Una and Sana river basins is forecast, followed by a gradual stabilization of water levels. A decrease in water levels at all stations is expected in the afternoon. Bosna River Basin A rise in water levels is currently being recorded at most hydrological stations in the Bosna River basin. The levels at which notification of potential flooding begins (for flood-prone areas defined by the Flood Operational Plan) have been reached at the Maglaj hydrological station on the Bosna River.

According to prognostic meteorological models, maximum precipitation occurred during the past night. A decrease in precipitation intensity to minimal values is forecast during the day. According to prognostic hydrological models, a slight increase in water levels at stations due to precipitation during the night in the upper course of the Bosna River basin is forecast, followed by a gradual stabilization of water levels. A decrease in water levels at all stations is expected in the afternoon.

Sava River Basin For flood-prone areas in the immediate vicinity of the Sava River basin (Odžak and Middle Posavina), a rise in water levels has been recorded at the Slavonski Brod and Šamac water gauging stations. Therefore, the Sava River Water Agency Sarajevo has requested legal entities implementing active flood defense measures in these areas to intensify monitoring of flood protection facilities and prepare for the potential implementation of regular flood defense measures.

If the water level rise continues according to the forecast data, the levels at which regular flood defense is declared may be reached on May 16, 2019.
