Water Supply: Fault Repaired, System Gradually Being Restored

(Patria) - During the night between Saturday and Sunday, one of the two main transport pipelines of the Sarajevo water supply system ruptured, leaving a larger part of the city without regular water supply.

Teams from KJP Vodovod i kanalizacija d.o.o. Sarajevo immediately went to the site, and the fault repair was carried out with the support of the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo. The fault has been secured and repaired in the shortest possible time, and the system is currently being gradually put back into operation.

Due to the complexity and sensitivity of the system, water is being released into the network in a controlled and gradual manner to avoid water hammer and the possibility of new network failures. For this very reason, the normalization of water supply will not be immediate and will occur in phases.

According to current estimates, some households will receive water in the next hour to an hour and a half, while full stabilization and normalization of the system are expected in the late evening hours.

Water tankers have also been provided for citizens since 2:30 PM at two locations:

- at the entrance to Wilson's Promenade

- near the Shopping Center in Grbavica.

"We ask citizens for their understanding and additional patience during the system stabilization process. Field teams will continue to monitor the situation and take all necessary actions to fully normalize the water supply throughout the city as soon as possible.

Citizens will be informed of any further information in a timely manner," stated the Canton Sarajevo.
