Greg Repovž in an editorial comment in the Slovenian weekly Mladina claims that the Program Council of RTV Slovenia recently discussed whether Jelena Aščić can host the central Dnevnik given that she is a Croat from Bosnia, N1 reported, the Patria news agency reports.
Allegedly, some members of the Program Council believe that Aščić should not host Dnevnik on national and religious holidays due to her origin.
Repovž believes that the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) of Janez Janša negatively affects the Slovenian public service and compares it to the Croatian HDZ.
On the same day when the hosting of Dnevnik was allegedly discussed, it was announced that Aščić would no longer host Dnevnik. Thus, the award-winning journalist who shook the Slovenian public with a documentary about the practically slave-like conditions in which Bosnian construction workers live in Slovenia, and also prompted a criminal investigation that ended with arrests, was removed from Dnevnik, NAP reports.
