FBiH Government Ashamed: Adisa and Neira Won Medals at the European Mathematical Olympiad!

Young female mathematicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina have won four medals at the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad, held in Romania from April 10 to 16 this year, reports the Patria agency.

Competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina appeared for the first time at this competition and immediately demonstrated world-class knowledge. Adisa Bolić won a gold medal, Neira Kurtović and Tijana Babić won silver, and Milica Babić won a bronze medal.

In the team standings, Bosnia and Herzegovina took 4th place out of 31 officially competing countries (eight countries such as the USA or India use this opportunity as preparation and a „test of strength“ before the International Mathematical Olympiad).

The departure of BiH female mathematicians to the European Olympiad was overshadowed by the arrogance of the federal authorities. For the mathematicians from Republika Srpska, Milica Babić and Tijana Babić, the costs were covered by the Republika Srpska Pedagogical Institute.

The authorities from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina ignored the requests of competitors from the FBiH. For competitor Adisa Bolić, travel money was provided by the mayor of the Bosanski Petrovac municipality. For the other competitor, Neira Kurtović, as well as for the guides, the money was provided by parents and friends.

Weeks earlier, the competitors tried to reach the SDA Minister of Education and Science, Elvira Dilberović, or someone from the cantonal authorities. Both declared themselves incompetent to help the best mathematicians travel to the European Olympiad. This did not prevent the brilliant Adisa Bolić and Neira Kurtović from winning medals in Romania. The BiH female mathematicians were prepared and accompanied to Romania by instructors Harun Hindija and Bojan Pažin, reports Patria.
