ZDK Government allocates around 7 million KM for Zenica regional roads in 2025

(Patria) - The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton has allocated around 7 million KM for the improvement of regional road infrastructure in the Zenica area in 2025, confirming its strategic commitment to
balanced development and safer traffic. The Minister for Spatial Planning, Traffic and Communications and Environmental Protection of ZDK, Adnan Šabani, accompanied by his associates, visited the construction sites today for the rehabilitation of the pavement of the regional road R457 Zenica – Arnauti, on the section „Kamenolom Komgrad – Kamenolom ŽGP“, as well as the regional road R445
Zenica – Lašva at two locations.

In a conversation with the representatives of the contractors, Minister Šabani received assurances that the works on the rehabilitation of over 900 meters of the Zenica – Arnauti – Donji Kakanj road will be completed within the agreed deadline. This section was in an extremely poor condition and posed a problem for traffic participants.

"With the realization of this project, this road route will be of extremely high quality along its entire length. The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton and the relevant ministry have allocated more than two million KM for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Zenica – Arnauti – Donji Kakanj regional road in the past two years, and 684,307.26 KM has been secured for this project alone – said Minister Šabani.

In the Lašva Local Community, the rehabilitation of the regional road R445 is underway, and the value of the project is 159,120.00 KM.

"In addition to these 700 meters leading towards Biljevo, today we agreed with the contractor, in order to solve a long-standing problem pointed out by Azrudin Dželalić, president of the Lašva Local Community, to lower the road level so that buses with students and other transport vehicles can finally pass unimpeded under the railway line towards the settlement. From the funds for regular road maintenance, the trimming of bushes that obstruct normal traffic towards Lašva will also be initiated immediately," said Adnan Šabani.

He added that today they also witnessed the beginning of another significant project, financed by the Ministry and the Government of ZDK with over 670,000 KM – the rehabilitation of the section from the Drivuša roundabout to the company Metalno, i.e., a new industrial zone that is becoming the driving force of Zenica.

"Including the 1.1 million KM planned for the continuation of reconstruction works on the regional road towards Lašva, within the suburban section of GGM, this regional road, extremely important for the citizens and economy of Zenica, will undergo significant improvement thanks to an investment of more than 2.5 million KM from the ZDK Budget," explained Šabani.

When the amount of around 5 million KM, secured for the improvement of road infrastructure in the Babinski and Lašvanski basins, is added to the 1.3 million KM for the rehabilitation of the Čajdraš – Ovnak regional road, on sections
through Obrenovci and Pojske, and the upcoming start of works on the rehabilitation of the Nemila – Bistričak – Teslić road worth 400,000 KM, it is concluded that a total of around 7 million KM has been invested from the Budget of Zenica-Doboj Canton in 2025 for regional roads in the Zenica area.

"In addition to all the aforementioned projects, I would add another 400,000 KM, recently allocated for the continuation of rehabilitation towards Smetovi, which are the lungs of the city of Zenica and a favorite picnic spot," emphasized Minister Adnan Šabani.

Prime Minister Pivić emphasized that the ZDK Government will continue with intensive investments in traffic infrastructure throughout the canton in the coming period.

"An investment of around 7 million KM solely in regional roads in the Zenica area shows our seriousness, strategic planning, and commitment to ensuring that every part of the Zenica-Doboj Canton feels the concrete results of this Government's work," said Prime Minister Nezir Pivić.
