ZDK Government Allocates 400,000 KM for Health Protection of Athletes and Workers

(Patria) - At the proposal of the Minister of Health, Dr. Aida Salčinović, the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton at today's session adopted the Decision on the adoption of the Program for the expenditure of funds for the Public Institution Institute for Occupational Medicine and Sports Medicine.

The budget of Zenica-Doboj Canton for 2026 provides for funds of the Ministry of Health in the amount of "Current transfer for the Cantonal Institute for Occupational Medicine and Sports Medicine" in the total amount of 400,000 KM.

The planned funds will co-finance the implementation of the project "Preservation of the Health of Amateur Athletes in the Zenica-Doboj Canton through Regular Systematic Examinations", given that the Public Institution Institute for Occupational Medicine and Sports Medicine performs expanded activities, including the health protection of athletes.

Of the total amount, 300,000 KM annually will be allocated for the health protection of athletes, which represents an increase of 100,000 KM compared to the previous year.

The remaining 100,000 KM will be directed towards projects in the field of public health activities, including the analysis of work-related injuries in the Zenica-Doboj Canton and the prevention of psychosocial risks – towards a healthy workplace.

The transfer of funds to the Public Institution Institute for Occupational Medicine and Sports Medicine will be carried out in accordance with the decision of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton on the approval of funds.

With these programs, the Ministry of Health of ZDK strives to further strengthen the Institute, provide support in the realization of regular and development activities, and improve the health protection of athletes and workers.
