The government of the BiH entity Republika Srpska will today consider information on whether this entity will participate in financing seven cultural institutions of importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the Patria News Agency.
At the end of July this year, the Council of Ministers of BiH gave its consent to the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH to prepare a proposal for financing cultural institutions of general importance for BiH, in cooperation with BiH institutions, entity and cantonal ministries of culture, as well as other interested public-private entities in the country. Among them are the National Museum of BiH, the Historical Museum of BiH, the Museum of Literature and Theatre Arts, the Art Gallery of BiH, the BiH Film Archive, the National and University Library, and the Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
These institutions – the most important for preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina – are struggling to operate due to a lack of funds, and the National Museum of BiH was even closed to the public for three years due to financial problems, before reopening in September.
The Memorandum on supporting seven cultural institutions of general importance for BiH has so far been supported by the Canton of Sarajevo, Zenica-Doboj Canton, Tuzla Canton, Central Bosnia Canton, and Bosanska-Podrinje Canton, writes Patria.
