The government has not been involved in Aluminij for five years, and you have made a loss of 221 million KM

Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić sent an open letter to the Association of Producers and Processors of Aluminium in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the President of the Management Board Ivan Kovačić.

- I am pleased that you have remembered at this very moment that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other institutions of the Federation of BiH exist, which have been trying for over a decade to obtain accurate information regarding the situation in Aluminij d.d. Mostar. We only succeeded in this recently, and after seeing what it was all about, it is completely clear to me why this was not allowed for so long – states Nikšić, as reported by the BiH News Agency (NAP).

According to Nikšić's statements in the letter, Aluminij's accumulated loss amounts to 163.5 million KM, while the liabilities as of December 31, 2013, amount to 221 million marks.

- This is the result, apart from objective reasons related to metal and electricity prices, primarily of harmful contracts concluded and agreed upon by all those who, for over a decade, did not allow the legal bodies of the Federation of BiH to gain any insight into the company's operations. I don't recall you making any public statement regarding such business operations at the time – Nikšić is categorical.

He reminds that in 2008, Aluminij Mostar finished the year with a profit of 14 million KM.

- Therefore, in the past five years, during which the Government and its representatives had no insight or influence on the operations, the result is a loss of 163.5 million KM. The question arises why you are not looking for the culprit for the situation in Aluminij d.d. elsewhere? If money had not been thrown away to various suppliers for goods and services during this period, how large would the debt be, and would it even exist – Nikšić wrote.

If we add to that, as he points out, that during the time of "prosperity" apartments were bought and distributed to the deserving, if expensive works of art and shamelessly valuable gifts for partners were bought (over a million KM spent on gifts), if apartments were bought in European metropolises and given to the deserving in dubious exchanges.

- After you became aware that the deficit created in Aluminij d.d., and the new management with its moves to review contracts, do not allow the continuation of Aluminij d.d.'s losses and the extra profit of those who do business with them, you remembered to ask the Government of FBiH to resolve the deficit of 221 million KM in just a few days.

- The new Management of Aluminij, the line ministry, and all other institutions have been trying for the past month to find the best model to preserve production and, most importantly, preserve jobs. The government is not bound, nor will the cheap populism you are using help anyone, least of all Aluminij and its workers for whom you supposedly care – it is stated in the letter from the Prime Minister of the Federation, Nermin Nikšić.
