The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry, approved the linking of service years with paid contributions for PIO/MIO in the amount of over 3.7 million KM, thereby enabling the retirement of 87 workers from the Kakanj and Kreka mines.
„The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has also made decisions in the previous period regarding the payment of outstanding unpaid obligations. We did not give these workers anything; they earned their pensions through years of work. Although this was the exclusive obligation of their company managements, the Government took upon itself the obligation to enable these workers to exercise their rights, because otherwise they would be left without severance pay, back wages, and pension rights.
Care for workers is our priority, and it will remain so in the future. We will ensure that every worker receives everything they are legally entitled to,“ said Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić.
This decision enables the linking of service years with paid contributions for PIO/MIO in the total amount of 1.4 million KM, thereby enabling the retirement of 28 workers from RMU Kakanj, and 2.3 million KM for the retirement of 59 workers from RMU Kreka.
The funds will be paid from the resources of dependent companies—coal mines within the EP BiH Concern, and were secured by the Decision on approving loans to coal mines.
