(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton has taken decisive steps to resolve a long-standing problem that threatens the lives of hundreds of citizens at the Curine Njive site.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Communal Affairs, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction, and Environmental Protection, the KS Government adopted the text of the Bill on Directing Funds for Landslide Remediation Assistance Collected from Special Fees and sent it for urgent parliamentary procedure.
The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, commenting on the adoption of this bill, sent a clear message about responsibility.
- I thank the relevant minister, Mladen Pandurević, who took the situation of our fellow citizens seriously and found a way to secure funds for remediation. Unfortunately, assistance was lacking from those who are responsible and who should have taken their share in the landslide remediation, and everything has come down to Sarajevo Canton and the Old Town Municipality.
The Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted the Bill on Directing Funds for Landslide Remediation Assistance Collected from Special Fees and sent it for urgent parliamentary procedure, which will enable the use of dedicated funds for the remediation of the landslide at Curine Njive, MZ Širokača.
We financed the main landslide remediation project, which was carried out by the Faculty of Civil Engineering. In the coming period, through the reallocation of budget funds, 600,000 KM will be allocated to the Old Town Municipality - Uk stated.
In the past period, the KS Government and the relevant ministry, in coordination with the Old Town Municipality, carried out a series of preventive measures that were crucial for the preparation of the final landslide remediation.
- The Ministry has secured 600,000 convertible marks through reallocation, which will be transferred to the Old Town Municipality after the signing of the agreement and will be used for landslide remediation according to the Main Project 'Curine Njive Landslide Remediation'.
The Ministry, by the Government's conclusion, prepared the Bill on Directing Funds for Landslide Remediation Assistance Collected from Special Fees, which was adopted by the Government and sent for parliamentary procedure - stated Minister Pandurević.
The adoption of this law will create a prerequisite for securing an additional million KM.
The Government of Sarajevo Canton expects the law to be quickly adopted by the Assembly and calls for the urgent commencement of works to permanently resolve this multi-year agony of the residents of Širokača.
