KS Government apologizes for incorrect information about vandalism at Vraca Memorial Park

(Patria) - Based on information from the City Administration about the desecration of Vraca Memorial Park, the Minister of Communal Economy and Infrastructure of Sarajevo Canton, Srđan Mandić, arrived at the scene and saw that the information was incorrect.

At the scene, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS and the minister confirmed that the condition of Vraca Memorial Park is the same as they left it on May 9th, when they announced the completion of the first phase of renovation.

This does not mean that the park is finished. As we have already said, the Government of Sarajevo Canton will continue with activities to protect and permanently resolve the status of this important historical monument of culture and future important tourist attraction of the City of Sarajevo," said Minister Madić.

(15:00) - Just a few days after the completion of the first phase of renovation, Vraca Memorial Park was targeted by vandals. Stone slabs were uprooted, offensive graffiti was spray-painted, and the results of months of work by utility companies and volunteer citizens were damaged.

On Victory Over Fascism Day and Europe Day, the flame was lit at Vraca Memorial Park after 27 years.

After years of neglect, part of the lighting was installed at the site, and in the coming period, the lighting will be intensified.

The second phase includes the introduction of video surveillance and the installation of benches to revive this space and make it a place for tourists to visit.
