Government of Sarajevo Canton: Call for dignified observance of the 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide

(Patria) - On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the Government of Sarajevo Canton expresses deep sorrow and condolences to the families of the victims. The brutality and scale of the crime that occurred in Srebrenica obliges us to build a society in which such a thing will never happen again.

"We call on all citizens and businesses to behave with dignity on July 11, 2019, which the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has declared a Day of Mourning on the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, paying due respect to the victims of this terrible crime and their grieving families. We remind you that the Day of Mourning is observed by the mandatory display of the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at half-mast on buildings and institutions of Sarajevo Canton.

On the Day of Mourning, no cultural and entertainment programs may be held in public places, and media outlets and catering establishments in the area of Sarajevo Canton are obliged to align and adapt their program content to the Day of Mourning.

At the request of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, the competent inspectors of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs will carry out enhanced supervision and control of compliance with the Day of Mourning," the Government of Sarajevo Canton announced.
