FBiH Government tried to shut down the Primary Education Union to more easily reach collective agreements

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo ordered that the Independent Union of Primary Education of FBiH cannot be deleted from the court register until the administrative dispute between the Union and the Government of FBiH, pending before this court, is fully resolved, Patria reports.

At the beginning of May, the Government of FBiH made a decision to delete the Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of FBiH from the Register of Associations. The Government claims that this union was improperly registered.

The request for the annulment of the Independent Union of Primary Education of FBiH was initiated by the Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of Sarajevo Canton.

Saudin Sivro, a member of the federal union, believes that such a decision by the Government of FBiH is political, and that someone wants to deliberately cause chaos in education in FBiH.

- Negotiations are underway between the Government and the unions regarding the harmonization of branch collective agreements. Our union is the toughest nut to crack. It is clear that the Government would prefer a more accommodating partner in these negotiations, which is why they tried to eliminate us in this way - Sivro told Patria.

- The decision of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo is a great victory for justice. The court has proven that neither the Government nor Prime Minister Fadil Novalić can be above the law - Sivro stated.

The Independent Union of Primary Education of FBiH brings together more than 17,000 education workers. They are fighting for a higher standard for education workers and better working conditions. The Union announces major reforms in the primary education system of FBiH, which will improve the quality of education in FBiH, and will bring higher salaries and better working conditions to education workers, as well as equal conditions for all future education workers during employment, Patria writes.
