Government Makes Final Decision: In Early June, FBiH to Borrow 1.6 Billion KM on London Stock Exchange

(Patria) - The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has made a final decision for the Federation to borrow 800 million euros on the London Stock Exchange in June to raise funds for financing expenditures and outlays determined by the budget for 2026.

The maturity date is June 2031, with an annual interest rate of 5.25 percent, writes Istraga.ba.

This portal previously reported that the FBiH Ministry of Finance, with the approval of the FBiH Government, sought a consultant in January of this year to assist in borrowing on international capital markets.

The plan for FBiH to borrow additionally was also made in January 2026, immediately after the adoption of the new FBiH budget for 2026 in the FBiH Parliament.

The budget for 2026 amounts to 8,898,279,146 KM, which is 649 million KM more than last year's.

Already in February, the FBiH Government made several decisions to borrow a total of 400 million KM through the issuance of FBiH treasury bills on the Sarajevo Stock Exchange (SASE) to raise funds for financing expenditures determined by the budget for 2026.
