More tropical days in 2015 than in the last decade

This year's summer, although not yet over, will be remembered in Austria for a record number of tropical days, with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, reports the news agency Patria.

In some regions of Austria, more tropical days have been recorded than in the last decade during the entire summer, announced the Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG).

Vienna, for example, had more days with temperatures of 35 degrees by last Friday than it had in total over the past ten years.

The forecast predicts that Vienna will have another 15 tropical days in the coming days with temperatures above 35 degrees.

Incidentally, the last temperature record was recorded in 2013, when Vienna registered five tropical days.

- From 2005 to 2014, only 14 such extremely hot days were recorded in Vienna, said Robert Kloner from ZAMG.

In other regions of Austria, this summer will also be remembered for extremely hot days.

In Linz, Eisenstadt, Sankt Pölten, and also in Bregenz in the north of the country, ten-year records have already been broken, Austrian media report.
